We were honored to have the keynote speech delivered by Ms. Mable CHAN, JP, Secretary for the Transport and Logistics, and The Hon. Frankie Yick, Legislative Council Member for the Transport Constituency, to inaugurate the opening.
In her opening address, Ms. Mable CHAN, JP, highlighted that green and sustainable development is a global trend in the logistics industry, with ESG becoming a key focus. She noted that the Action Plan on Modern Logistics Development, announced by the government in 2023, identifies ESG as one of the core strategies to foster the logistics sector.

Ms. Mable CHAN, JP, also mentioned the upcoming Port Community System, which aims to establish an information-sharing platform to enhance contributions from the port, shipping, and logistics sectors toward ESG goals. Additionally, the government is expanding the scope of the Pilot Subsidy Scheme for Third-Party Logistics Service Providers to fund green development initiatives, supporting the industry’s transformation and upgrading. She expressed hope that the industry would continue to embrace green and sustainable logistics practices to ensure the sector’s ESG development shines brightly.
HKLA President Ir. Elsa Yuen stressed that adopting ESG practices is a critical strategy for businesses to navigate challenges successfully. In the previous year, HKLA took the lead by introducing an ESG rating system for the logistics industry, engaging over 200 participants in training seminars and evaluating 31 companies on their direct and indirect ESG impacts within supply chain management (SCM). This ESG assessment tool supports small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in enhancing governance, setting benchmarks, and pinpointing opportunities for improvement, ultimately driving cost savings and revenue increases.
